Mozilla pushes out Firefox 2.0.0.6 security update

Another Mozilla Firefox update.
If they weren’t so transparent and unobtrusive I might complain… as it is…I’m not.

  • Well, after four days of absolute misery, I finally unistalled Firefox 2.0.0.6 (for the THIRD time), cleaned out all the files, profiles, scripts it left behind, did a registry repair (that program STILL found bits of things not cleaned out with the "uninstall") --and installed a former version.

Firefox again works like a charm. Here's to RETRO-PROGRESS. Here's to not fixing things when nothing is broken....and here, thank God, is to simplicity on the web once again.

    Amen.
  • in a word.........HORRIBLE. I did the last update before this one a mere 2 weeks ago and had some hitches, but got my profile sorted out and moved along. Now...........well........

there are now more security walls and protocols, encryptions, etc., as to make my Firefox browser completely unusable. It crashed CONSTANTLY, and this has never happened before. No matter what I tried, BANG! "ILLEGAL PAGE FAULT IN FIREFOX.EXE"-- until I went into about:config and disabled all the session.store crap- all the caches, hidden cookies, disabled automatic updates......and most important.....

I've switched my home page to about:blank. NO MORE GOOGLE. Google has grown into the "monster" that Microsoft eventually became, by abuse of hidden controls. I've watched it grow by increments, storing up info, developing caches and offering their wares disguised as 'lollipops'...

and now Google has more info that anyone on what is accessed on the net than the FBI, I'll just bet!

    Enough.

I've "Rediscovered the Net"---- the way it was promised by Firefox at one time: fast, uncomplicated, unburdened by hitchhiking googlers, no web feeds, erase all memory of where I've been and what I've done while I was there when I close out. You can HAVE this new improved version. I'm only able to use it at all now by disabling about 50 percent of the 'goodies' it's slapped on at this point.
And no extensions. They aren't updated properly.

Stripped and lean, that's the only way to go- with a good Virus program running.

    In Absolute Disgust-
