Gmail v2.0 with MultiChat? or not.

I saw a post in Teknobites today about another possible new feature in Gmail V.2, Multi-IM. Meaning you’ll be able to instant message people on different platforms from your gTalk messenger.

I dunno though.  It would be really, really, really nice if this was the case but there has been a lot of talk recently about how Google is getting into Social Networking.    I know they are, I reported on it months and months ago, they’re working with CMU on it.

Lots of Social networking sites list alternative communication methods for their users. This isn’t anything new.

I don’t think Yahoo! and AOL are going to work with Google all that closely on integrating their messengers with one of the fastest growing IM platforms especially as they have just brought out new versions of their own IM Platforms.

This would be nice. I’d love to see it. But I just think people are reading too much into a form.

Prove me wrong Google, please.

Thanks for the mention.

Yahoo, AOL and others don’t have to work with Google, they use Jabber transports to integrate other networks. See how meebo and others work

Right, I’m an avid Meebo user but wouldn’t you think that AOL would take offense if Google built their messenger in?
I guess I’m saying that Google is somewhat more ‘above board’ that Meebo Etc.
