Did you ever resolve this issue of removing Adobe AIR from OSX so that you can do a clean install. I am experiencing the same problem, I am now stuck at the same point.

I think i fix that problem with Adobe Air, when you uninstall Adobe Air, delete also the user data for it as well. then install it again. it should work ok.

Check something for me, this is how I fixed this problem…
In your Windows/System32 directory, check to see if you have a file called 'msiexec' with no file extension and a size of '0 bytes'. Rename the file to 'msiexec.old' and try again…

Thanks for the handy hint. However, I'm a bit concerned about what will happen to end users when there's and AIR update – will they have to go through this rigmarole? I haven't actually investigated this myself, just a thought. But app and AIR updates is one of the reasons why we haven't gone down the route of installing AIR apps on a user's box. Instead, we install the AIR app on our Citrix servers like a normal thick client.
