Google Voice: Why am I calling myself?
This is something that not a lot of people get. It’s one of those handy but hardly used functions of online VOIP providers and Google Voice specifically.
Take a look at the button below. If you give it a click (go ahead, give it a try) it’ll ask you for your phone number.
Yes, this is strange but even stranger is when your phone rings and there’s a ringing when you pick up.
What’s happening is that Google Voice is ascertaining your number through a web interface, checking it by calling you, making the connection when you pick up and then connecting you with the number given to the widget.
What’s neat is that, depending on how you have the widget set up, the call can connect directly to your phone or to voicemail (this one goes to Voicemail).
