So often we forget the simplest of tasks that make living with Google Analytics so much easier. All too often we log into our Google Analytics Dashboards and are bombarded with data. We forget that we can cut down the amount of information being thrown at us and make better use of what we have.
Once in a while, while perusing your Google Analytics reports, scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click on the advanced filter.
You can use the report filters to only show you certain information i.e.
- View keywords that brought visitors that stayed on your site at least 2 mins.
- View keywords what have a low/high bounce rate.
- View keywords that brought readers to one page when then immediately left.
There is a lot you can do – you can use any single filter on its own in any report or you can be a real power user and combine multiple conditions to really weed through the data.
Using Google Analytics Reports filters can tell you which of your keywords are performing best, or.. not so well. You can figure out which referrers are best performing and where you need to focus your efforts and more.
The Google Analytics guys on YouTube even made a video to show you.
