Del Monte Foods Selects Wombat Security Technologies’ Security Training Platform

Wombat Security Technologies, a leading provider of cyber security training solutions,  announced today that Del Monte Foods has selected Wombat Security Technologies’ (Wombat),  Security Training Platform to improve internal security awareness. Del Monte is utilizing Wombat’s entire Security Training Platform to assess internal vulnerability and to train its workforce to recognize the numerous cyber-attacks launched on organizations every day.

Ryan Mann, manager of IT security and risk management at Del Monte Foods, said, “We selected Wombat because they offer a comprehensive cyber security preparedness platform. Instructional Fitness, LLC and TrueFit Launch Fitness-Oriented iPhone & iPad App

TrueFit, a top innovation firm which helps entrepreneurial start-ups and large enterprises bring new product ideas to market, announced the go-live of a new version of Instructional Fitness, a fitness app, conceived by Los Angeles-based Instructional Fitness, LLC. The initial version of the Instructional Fitness iPhone app was designed for building, tracking and executing fitness routine workouts. Instructional Fitness, LLC turned to TrueFit to take the user experience to a more sophisticated level on a new version of the app.

The TrueFit team began by removing in-application videos to improve the app’s speed, enabling users to stream videos directly or via download/storing on device, for off-line viewing. The app’s workout log was revamped from the ground up, allowing grouping and filtering of completed and in-progress workouts. Users can view a workout and its associated data, or exercises directly, within the workout log. Now, workout routines can be edited, and both the workout log and the calendar view for the workout log can switch quickly between saved logs.

Concurrent Technologies Corporation Identifies Safer Sealant Technologies, Reduces Industrial Toxic Chemical Usage at Hill Air Force Base

Under a contract from the Air Force Research Laboratory Energy and Environment Team (AFRL/RXSC E2), Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) has identified, tested, and recommended alternative sealant technologies to reduce industrial toxic chemical usage at Ogden Air Logistics Center (OO-ALC), the primary United States Air Force (USAF) facility for maintaining and overhauling aircraft landing gear.  OO-ALC is a part of Hill Air Force Base (AFB) located in northern Utah.

Aluminum landing gear components are anodized at OO-ALC to provide enhanced corrosion resistance, paint adhesion, and wear resistance.  However, a sodium dichromate sealing operation is needed to complete the anodizing process, and this sealer contains hexavalent chromium, which is listed on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) list of industrial toxic chemicals that are targeted for voluntary reduction or elimination.  Additionally, the Department of Defense (DoD) issued a policy directive in April 2009 that restricts the use of compounds such as hexavalent chromium on military vehicles and weapon systems.  Because of this, CTC was tasked to find alternatives that eliminated the use of hexavalent chromium for sealing operations.

Call for Applications: 2012 MIT Sloan CIO Innovation Showcase at This Year’s MIT Sloan CIO Symposium

The third annual InnovationShowcase, part of this year’s MITSloanCIOSymposium, is taking place on May 22, 2012. The Innovation Showcase will connect CIOs, senior business and IT executives with ten carefully selected early-stage technology companies which have the potential to help CIOs drive top line growth and bottom line results.

This is an opportunity for technology start-ups to gain access to senior IT executives, industry influencers and potential strategic partners.

Selection Process:

The ten early-stage technology companies will be decided by the Innovation Showcase Organizing Team. The team includes an industry wide group of MIT faculty, entrepreneurs, and early-stage investors. Finalists will be notified by April 20, 2012. All decisions are final.

Qualification Criteria:

The criteria for potential Innovation Showcase companies include the following:

  • Must be a start-up with less than $10 million in 2011 annual revenues.

  • Must be selling enterprise IT solutions to CIOs.

  • Must show innovation as well as potential impact on the top and bottom lines.
