Pittsburgh City Government has been talking about how nice it would be to have this feature for some time and now it’s finally here.
Now, instead of entering your plate information on the many on and off street parking meters around the city, you can use your phone to scan the sticker on the meter, or the sign near the meter (or enter the code), walk away and pay as you do.

The App? Download GoMobilePGH. You’ll need to take a minute or two to register, enter your license plate information (or up to 5 plates), and your debit/credit card information.
Use the app to choose how long to pay for, confirm and pay.
Get alerts on your device as your meter expiration approaches and extend your time appropriately, up to maximum time allowed for where you are parked.
Fairly simple, really quite convenient.
