Already in 2017, we have witnessed record growth across the UK’s car market. Compared to 2015, the number of new cars sold in the UK grew by 2% in 2016. Used car sales were on the rise too, growing by 7.3% on the previous year.
One type of car that has garnered particular attention has been alternative fuelled vehicles. Interest in plug-in hybrids grew by 41.9%, while petrol-electric hybrids increased by 25.1%. With a strong, varied market present, there are plenty of opportunities on offer not just for car manufacturers and dealerships, but for every business connected to the sector.
A new generation of car buyers is also emerging thanks to the country being increasingly dependent on digital. A recent survey found that 75% of car buyers would complete the entire vehicle-purchase process online — cutting out the forecourts entirely.
The stage of an all-digital car buying process hasn’t swept across the board yet, but digital is certainly playing a huge part in helping car buyers ahead of them purchasing their next set of wheels. On average, a single car buyer has 900 digital interactions across the three months prior to buying or leasing a car. Clearly, car buyers have embraced digital. The question is, have you?
