Pittsburgh will host its first ever GiveCamp on the weekend of July 15-17th at the world headquarters of Development Dimensions International (DDI) in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania.
The Pittsburgh GiveCamp is a weekend long event where technology professionals from designers, developers and database administrators to marketers and web strategists volunteer their time to help local non-profit organizations. It is part of a nationwide initiative to help local charities that would otherwise be unable to dedicate time or resources to software development projects.
Since its inception in 2007 the national GiveCamp program has provided benefits to more than 150 charities, with a value of developer and designer time exceeding $1 million in services. The first Pittsburgh GiveCamp is hoping to attract over 50 technical volunteers with a variety of skills to donate their time to create custom software solutions for local non-profits. GiveCamp is accepting applications from non-profit organizations who are interested in the services that this group could provide. The only condition is that the project must be completed in one weekend.
