Robert Sheesley, a healthcare strategy and technology leader, was recently named president-elect by the membership of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). He previously served on the board of directors as an at-large member and will assume the role of president for 2012-2013.
Sheesley, who works for Annapolis, Md.-based Syndicus Scientific Services (SSS) as the director of Health Care and Life Sciences, has more than 20 years of management consulting and information management service operations experience in interim CIO leadership, planning and executing business and IT transformation, and implementing mission-critical technology and process optimization solutions designed to reduce operating costs, grow market share, increase shareholder wealth, improve customer loyalty, and drive measurable business value.
In January 2011, he assumed the role of Universal Public Health Node (UPHN) Project Director at HEALTHeLINKTM, western New York’s Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO), where he is responsible for project strategy, execution and delivery, vendor management, and overall project leadership of the three-year Health Information Exchange (HIE) development project funded by New York State Department of Health and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.
Prior to joining SSS, Sheesley provided consulting services to Pittsburgh, Pa.- based Highmark, Inc. as program manager of its multi-year Consumerism Program. He has held past leadership positions as CIO Advisory Services Practice Leader for West Monroe Partners, National Insurance Practice Lead for Alvarez and Marsal Business Consulting, and Director of Claim Technology for CNA Financial.
One of his first official assignments will include hosting the Western Pennsylvania HIMSS dinner/panel discussion titled “The Role of Telemedicine in an Accountable Care Organization (ACO),” which will be held on Aug. 17 at the Four Points by Sheraton Pittsburgh North in Mars, Pa.
