(BPT) – By 2030 humanity will need 30 percent more water, 40 percent more energy, and 50 percent more food to satisfy the needs of the global population. Not only is the global population growing, but the affluent middle class is accountable for most of this growth. What does this mean for the rest of the world? Rising demands on food production. Advanced technology is helping food manufacturers decrease waste, reduce demands on raw materials like energy and water by up to 15 percent, and decrease process waste by 20 percent, while increasing the nutritional value and flavor of foods.
