From PC to the Xbox One, Wii U and PlayStation 4, gaming is more popular ever. But, your gaming experience can quickly be ruined by a lumpy couch and the sun casting glare on the TV or monitor. So, what can you do about it? Well, here are some tips to get your pad functioning as a fully formed gaming haven.

Chairs and Couches

The first thing you need to decide is what kind of gamer you are. If you’re a PC gamer, you’ll probably need the perfect chair. Consider something like a DXRacer chair because it is completely adjustable with 360 spin capabilities. Another option is the Aeron Chair by Herman Miller because it is one of the best ergonomic office chairs on the market. It automatically adjusts to you if you shift or move positions, making it a great option.

If you’re more of a console gamer, it’s important to have room for more than one person. There are a host of sectional couches out there that will make room for you and three of your buds. Plus, sectionals are easy to fit in the space you have because the different parts are detachable. However, sectional couches are typically on the expensive side. So, if you’re looking for something more affordable, La-Z Boy has a lot of sofas that might suit your needs. Or, if you want to get creative, fill your gaming haven with bean bag chairs.

Blinds and Shades

Too much sunlight can easily ruin your gaming experience by casting a glare on your screen. Luckily, all you need are some high-quality blinds or curtains to solve the problem. From cellular shades, to wooden blinds, to drapes, it can be hard to know what type of window covering is best for your gaming haven. Consider blinds or cellular shades from The Shade Store if you want to be able to let some light into your room because they can easily be adjusted. However, if you want complete darkness in your room, invest in some heavy drapes to cover your windows.

Sound Systems

Good surround sound is invaluable when you want to be immersed in your games or movies. Luckily, there is a big market for home theater setups. Bose provides ten and six speaker options that come equipped with an Acoustimass module and cube speakers. The only downside to these great speakers is that they will cost you quite a bit.

For more affordable options, Sony and Panasonic have a host of surround sound options. Sony has four different packages including a DVD home theater system, Blu-ray system and a top-notch full hi-res option. Panasonic, on the other hand, has multiple surround sound sets with towers so you get most of the sound from right in front of you and then more sound from individual speakers in the corners of the room. No matter which you choose, it’s best to do some product research before you commit to spending your hard earned cash.
