Everyone has that moment when they just want to quickly fix something around the house, without the hassle of digging around in a tool bag. Even if you have a nicely organized tool set, you still have to lug it all out and try to locate the exact right tool for the task at hand. This is where the Kelvin.23 Multi-tool comes in handy.
The Kelvin.23 comes with a flashlight, level, measuring tape, and screwdriver with 16 bits, as well as a hammer head. The company markets this product as “The Urban Super Tool.” It’s made of a cast aluminum body and actually fits pretty well in the hand. The measuring tape is pretty basic and measures about 5.5’.The flashlight is surprisingly powerful, but that’s because they chose to use LED bulbs. This is fortunate since the battery compartment is a little difficult to access and the use of LEDs means you shouldn’t have to access that compartment very often.

The level is seated on top of the multi-tool. Since the Kelvin.23 is flat on each side, the level can be easily used facing any direction with no concern about inaccuracy. There’s nothing worse than a picture or mirror that’s constantly cock-eyed.
The zinc die cast and chrome plated hammer is the most awkward part of the Kelvin.23. Initially, I thought it was nice that the hammer didn’t jut out from the tool, but when I went to actually use it, things became a little more difficult. I found myself worried I’d either wind up hitting the nail with the casing instead of the hammer head. When I didn’t worry about that, I worried about hitting my hand against the wall while hitting the nail.By far the best part of the Kelvin.23 is the screwdriver. The screwdriver pops out at the press of a button and can be used at either a 90 or 180 degree angle depending on the job. The interchangeable bits mean you don’t have to swap between actual screwdrivers and having the bits all inside the tool mean you have quick and easy access to them. No more juggling the container of bits while working. Plus, the screwdriver has a magnetic head and the magnet on the side can be used to pick up any dropped screws or nails.

It does take a little bit to get used to it, but it’s a pretty helpful tool for quick projects. Some people may like to add something like a cutting tool, but I don’t really think that would be used very frequently. However, I do think that the addition of pliers would make this the only tool actually needed.
At $29.99, it’s definitely an affordable tool to have around, especially if you want to tackle a few solo projects here and there.
