Windows 10 is the most advanced version of the leading operating system to arrive to market yet, presenting a range of advanced features in a desktop-style interface. The Windows 10 update is free to download from Harvey Norman as well as available through Windows Update, and provides a direct upgrade to the most recent versions of Windows. Windows 10 is designed to deliver the best of the mobile and PC experience to all users with features such as Universal Apps, but limitations in some devices may prevent them from delivering the best of the Windows 10 experience.
Basic System Requirements
In order to install the basic Windows 10 platform, your device must meet certain performance criteria. Minimum system requirements for Windows 10 include 16 GB of free space on the hard disk, a 1GHz or faster processor, and a compatible graphics card along with 1GB of 32-bit RAM or 2GB of 64-bit RAM.
Mobile Edition
The mobile edition of Windows 10 is built to make the most of portable screens with full screen apps and an integrated Start Menu. This edition of Windows 10 is optimized for devices with a display of less than 8 inches across, and while the mobile edition allows users to run Universal Apps from the Windows store and experience much of the functionality of the full Windows 10 OS, it does not feature Desktop Mode standard. It also will not run the full 32-bit programs and applications designed for true desktop computers.
Continuum Edition
A special edition of Windows 10 is available to owners of mobile devices that currently run Windows 8 or 8.1. The Continuum Edition is a hybrid of the mobile and full versions of Windows 10, delivering the full suite of resources that Windows 10 provides including Microsoft Edge and Windows Hello to the extent the individual device will support.
Desktop Edition
The Desktop Edition of Windows 10 provides the latest generation of Windows to all PC users whose computers meet the performance requirements as well as those with tablets or smartphones with screens at least 8 inches across. Desktop Mode can be switched on manually or automatically toggled whenever the system detects a keyboard attached to a hybrid laptop/tablet device.
Microsoft has designed Windows 10 to be compatible across its entire line of devices with three distinct versions of the operating system. While the Desktop Edition offers the most comprehensive experience, each of them provides access to Cortana, Microsoft Edge, and more of the latest Windows features.
