Toronto announced today that they will be using LED lighting in the metropolitan area.
Of course CF (the twisty ones) use significantly less power than ‘normal’ light bulbs but LED type lighting uses about a tenth as much power as a CF!
If only other cities (Raleigh, NC is) and municipalities would adopt this technology. Not only would they help save the planet a little but maybe they’d eventually be able to save their residents some cash too.
I changed all the light bulbs in the apartment here (about 12 in all) from ‘normal’ bulbs to CF a few months ago and we’ve seen savings. Maybe I’ll phase in the LED bulbs and save some more 🙂
